Message from the Chief
The Marion Police Department is dedicated to service and committed to transparency. We believe an informed community is our strongest partner. We are proud to offer this centralized resource, which empowers residents with direct access to vital department information.
This page provides critical data and tools, including department policies, statistics on Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) data, monthly calls for service, and a user-friendly platform for crime mapping through Resident Connect. This is not just a page of information; it is a platform for partnership and trust.
-Jeremy Sprague, Chief of Police

Resident Connect
With the modernization of the Marion Police Department’s records management system, Resident Connect, an online transparency hub is now available to the community. It provides data on recent Marion Police Department activity dating back to the spring of 2023. It offers a database and map of Police Department incidents, accidents and citations, searchable by date and geographic location. Names and exact address information are not included in the search results.
Use of Force
The Marion Police Department is committed to improving trust with the community we serve.
The use of force is only permitted in situations where an individual is resisting commands of an officer. Force may be warranted as the nature of the individual's resistance becomes more threatening to others in the situation or the officer. Our Use of Force Policy dictates what level and type of force that an officer may elect to use based upon the nature and risk posed by a subject's resistance.
Any use of force, other than open handed control of a subject, is tracked and documented. Each incident is subsequently reviewed by a defensive tactics instructor, a sergeant and a lieutenant who determine whether the force used was reasonable, necessary and within policy.
