The Public Works Department is responsible for collecting garbage and recycling from all designated residential dwellings within Marion. Collection of garbage and recycling from commercial and multi-family dwellings are performed by commercial solid waste haulers that are licensed to haul within the City of Marion.

Public Works maintains a holiday collection schedule to coincide with City/department holidays and the Cedar Rapids Linn County Solid Waste Agency.
