Double the Free Halloween Fun in Uptown Marion on October 25
Uptown Marion will come alive with Halloween fun on Saturday, Oct. 25, as two free community events fill the district with costumes and creativity. Families can enjoy the Marion Monster Mash in City Square followed by the Uptown Marion Spooktacular dining event at participating restaurants.

Marion Fire Department Responds to a Fall from a Communications Tower Resulting in Fatality
At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, Oct. 10, 2025, the Marion Fire Department was dispatched to 3602 N 10th Street, Marion, for an individual who had fallen from a cell tower and was unconscious and bleeding.

Work Happening Overnight at the Intersection of Highways 13 & 151
Tonight, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m., Price Electric will shut down the traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 151 and Highway 13 in Marion to replace the traffic signal cabinet.

Marion's Engineering Division Relocates to Public Works Facility

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The decals and installation costs were funded by a donation from HOPEwalk CR.

Work to Begin on Boyson Trail Project; Trail to Close Between Marion Boulevard and Donnelly Park for 6-8 Weeks
On Monday, Sept. 22, construction crews will close the Boyson Trail north of Marion Boulevard at the Milwaukee Road Bridge to the pedestrian bridge in Donnelly Park for trail improvements. The improvements include streambank stabilization, culvert replacement and paving the existing granular trail.

Those interested in learning more about CERT are invited to a community preparedness open house on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1 (100 Irish Dr., Marion). Meet fellow CERT members, learn how to use a fire extinguisher and receive hands-only CPR training.
