During their Sept. 4, 2025 meeting, Marion City Council voted 6-1 to hold off on putting the proposed outdoor aquatics park on the November ballot. Staff will be working with the resident-appointed steering committee to discuss next steps associated with replacing the aging Marion Pool.

Phase 2 will close Boyson Road from Alburnett Road to Central Avenue. The current detour, which uses C Avenue, Tower Terrace Road and Alburnett Road will remain in place with specific modifications for Phase 2.

Based on the National Weather Service forecast for this evening, and for the safety of the performers, staff and attendees, the “Are You Ready For It? A Taylor Experience” concert at the Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park on Saturday, Aug. 9, is now planned to start at 6 p.m.

This year, National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The Marion Police Department is partnering with the Marion Fire Department and other City departments to organize a community-wide event from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Park, 343 Marion Blvd.
