YARD WASTE
- Yard Waste is collected curbside only for those with a 64-gallon City-issued yard waste cart. Bio-degradable paper bags are no longer collected at the curb.
- Curbside Yard Waste Collection is an opt-in program. There is an additional monthly fee for this service. To opt-in, call Public Works at 319-377-6367.
- Cost to opt in is $6 per month ($72/year). The fee, added to your City utility bill, is charged year-round to minimize administrative and cart delivery/pick-up expenses.
- There is no limit to the number of additional yard waste carts, however, each additional cart comes with a monthly fee of $10 to cover the collection costs and processing fees for yard waste.
- There is a one-time activation fee of $50 if you pick up the cart at Public Works, or $75 if the City delivers the cart to your home (deliveries are made on Fridays).
- Yard waste is collected at the curb on collection day April through the end of November. This may be extended based on seasonal conditions.
- All material must be out at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day and placed within 3 feet of the curb.
- The 64-gallon cart with the green lid is designated for yard waste and has 200 pound weight limit. The lid of the cart must close in order for it to be collected.
- Sod or dirt are not accepted at the curb or the compost site. Yard waste and garbage may not be mixed.
- Carts are to remain with the home upon selling.
- Please remember, raking leaves or mowing grass into the street is prohibited in Marion.
If you have leaves or yard waste that you wish to dispose of, the Yard Waste Drop-off Facility is open year round.
