The library will host its first ever Adult Book Fair on Friday, Sept. 27 from 5–8 p.m. in their Community Room. This event is for individuals 21 years and older, as alcohol will be served. Local Marion vendors, including bookstores, dessert shops, and others, will have items available for purchase.

The Marion Fire Department will mark its 150th anniversary with an open house on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9-11 a.m. The event will be held at the Marion Fire Department Headquarters, located at 100 Irish Drive.

Prairie Hill Park is located at the corner of 29th Avenue and 50th Street in Marion. The park offers a 30-stall parking lot, a playground with equipment for all age groups, a pavilion and a basketball court.

For the second year, the City of Marion is bringing live theater to Lowe Park. The event is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 and is produced by Giving Tree Theater and sponsored by Mercy Medical Park – Marion and ImOn Communications.

A presentation of the draft document is happening from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center, 4500 N. 10th Street. The plan is expected to go before Marion City Council next week.

Community leaders, City staff and Chamber ambassadors will join members of the Marion Public Works Department on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. to cut the ribbon on the City’s new Public Works Facility. The event will take place at 202 44th Street. An open house and facility tours will follow.

Among the action items in the department’s Community-Driven Strategic Plan, adopted in 2023, is to formalize the Fire Department's scope and level of service. To accomplish this, the Marion Fire Department is embarking on a Standards of Cover Study and an Emergency Medical Services System Study.
