The City of Marion is preparing to redesign its website, www.cityofmarion.org. Marion residents and website visitors are invited to share feedback regarding the functionality, appearance, navigation and content of the existing site.

City Offices to Close in Observance of Upcoming Holidays
Garbage and recycling collection will happen according to the normal schedule for Monday and Tuesday routes. It will be delayed by one day for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes both weeks, happening Thursday through Saturday instead.

Marion Public Library Bookmobile Launches December 17
In addition to broadening the reach of library services, the bookmobile will help build new partnerships with local organizations and serve as a community-wide resource. A list of route stops and frequently asked questions can be found on the library’s website.

Marion Compiling a List of Light Displays for Light the Night Holiday Lights Tour
Residents with festive outdoor light displays are invited to submit their address via the form at www.cityofmarion.org/holidaylights by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. The People's Choice award winner will be selected by the community through online voting.

Open House Set for Dec. 10 to Gather Public Comment on Marion's Draft Comprehensive Plan
The consultant and City staff will be available on Dec. 10, from 4-6 p.m., in the atrium of Marion City Hall, 1225 6th Avenue, Marion. The open house will be in a come-and-go format with no formal presentation planned.

Marion Fire Department Launches File of Life Program
The program provides individuals with a simple and effective way to store their medical information. Participants can complete a form detailing their medical history, allergies, current medications, and emergency contacts, which is then placed in a magnetic pouch and kept on their refrigerator.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be collected on Thanksgiving Day and pick-up will be delayed by a day for both Thursday and Friday routes. The final day for curbside yard waste collection in 2024 will be Dec. 13.

Marion Fire Department Responds to Commercial Structure Fire at 850 Twixt Town Road
This fire was determined to be accidental, caused by inappropriately stored materials on a countertop stove. Because this building had both an alarm system and a sprinkler system, the fire was rapidly detected and contained, and loss was limited.

Marion Parks and Recreation Hosting Open House to Gather Input on New Parks
The City of Marion is partnering with RDG Planning & Design to re-imagine one existing park and gather ideas for two new neighborhood parks. Marion residents and park neighbors are encouraged to participate in the visioning process. A public open house is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 6-7:30 pm
