About the Project

ArtPlace America selected the city of Marion as the first in Iowa to receive support for a placemaking project. ArtPlace, a consortium of national foundations and financial institutions, provided the City with $350,000 to help bring vitality to underutilized spaces in the heart of the historic Uptown Marion Main Street District. Marion’s Artist Selection Panel reviewed 80 regional and national artist proposals for public art projects. Contracts were awarded to nine artists, including five from Iowa. Reserve the Uptown Artway

To reserve this unique space, please contact the Marion Parks and Recreation Department at 319-447-3580. Those reserving the space will be asked to submit a hold harmless application to be approved by Marion City Council. It is best to submit the application at least six weeks prior to the event to allow for staff review.

Fees

We encourage individuals, businesses and organizations to host special events in Marion. Please be aware of the following fees associated with reservations for large gatherings and special events. The fees cover the staff time to prepare the space for the special event, use of power and removal of garbage following.
