In an effort to raise awareness of proper concrete washout practices for those who work in construction and concrete industries, the City of Marion has partnered with the City of Cedar Rapids, the City of Hiawatha, and the Iowa Stormwater Education Program to host a free workshop focused on concrete washouts.
This workshop will be held at Lowe Park, 4500 N. 10th Street in Marion, on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch is available for a fee. Registration information
Properly constructed and maintained concrete washout facilities are an important part of controlling stormwater pollution. Wash water from concrete is alkaline and has high levels of chromium, which can leach into the ground and contaminate groundwater.
The City of Marion is committed to improving water quality and reducing the impacts of stormwater runoff through public education efforts.
