The City of Marion is working with Waters Edge Aquatic Design to conduct a planning process to redevelop Willowood Park, home of the existing Marion Pool, and solidify plans for the new proposed aquatic center, to be located south of Munier Road between 31st and 35th Streets.

On Thursday, March 20, the consultant and City staff will host a public open house to help educate residents and gather feedback on the concurrent projects.

Taking community feedback that was gathered in January, three proposed site plans for Willowood Park will be shared. In addition, attendees will be able to view and react to the preliminary site plan for the 24-acre parcel which has been identified as the future home of the proposed aquatic center (pending the passage of a referendum in November). The layout will also show the street network, parking accommodations and additional recreation amenities.

The open house is scheduled from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Marion Public Library, 1101 6th Avenue, Marion. There is no formal presentation planned and participants can come and go.

Additionally, an online survey will be issued on March 20, to gather more community input. It will be available through March 31.
